Celebrating Motherhood

This Mothers Day, we are celebrating the mother in each of us-- that part of us that nourishes, protects, inspires and loves our planet, our oceans, our land and each other. Motherhood is a way of being, it is a way of moving through your days and your life. This Mother's Day, we invite you to celebrate Motherhood, whether or not you have children of your own, by loving unconditionally, seeing the best in those you love and caring for our planet.

You carry Mother Earth within you. She is not outside of you. Mother Earth is not just your environment. In that insight of inter-being, it is possible to have real communication with the Earth, which is the highest form of prayer.

There is no greater embodiment of Motherhood than Mother Earth. We can glean so much wisdom from simply spending time in Nature. By opening our senses to the elements, we see that all of life is reflected in the cycles of the seasons. By planting our feet firmly in the earth, we feel grounded and supported. By watching the clouds float by or the way the leaves grow on the trees, we learn that there is a rhythm that we are all part of and that all life is sacred.  So, to celebrate Mother's Day this year, we have some ideas for  you to connect with the wisdom of Nature and harness her ability to restore, heal and nourish.

Here are our suggestions for ways to celebrate this Mother's Day:

• Feed someone in need.
• Nourish someone with affirming words.
• Choose to buy local and organic food.
• Start composting.
• Commit to reusable grocery bags, cups and water bottles!
• Plant a garden or if you have limited space, some fresh herbs like basil and cilantro in a pot near a sunny window.
• Spend time in Nature. While there, draw, paint, write or simply notice.
