From the early days of Firepot, we have been blending our original, freshly ground masala spice with freshly roasted and ground cacao nibs for a divine make-at-home Chocolate Chai! The exotic and aromatic spice of chai and the decadence of chocolate blended together create chai nirvana. For a moment of self-indulgence, or a bit of decadence shared with those you care about most, chocolate chai is the liquid expression of love.
First sourced from Frederick Schilling, the then chocolate maker at Dagoba Chocolate and now from Scott Witherow, the maker at Olive and Sinclair, our cacao nibs are carefully sourced and masterfully roasted for an intense flavor not found in macro lots of cocoa.
Chocolate made from ground and sweetened cacao nibs holds a special place in history for more than just its great taste. Mayan and Aztec cultures, where cacao originated, understood the benefits of this unique fruit to be as much spiritual as physical. Cacao ceremonies were times of prayer, singing, and vibrant dancing. Revered for its ability to inspire creativity, increase energy and bring peace to both body and soul, cacao ceremony practitioners continue yet today.
Chai carries its own history as a symbol of hospitality, friendship, and connection in India where it’s sold on nearly every street corner. For nearly 5,000 years, the blend of masala chai has been used in Eastern and specifically Ayurvedic medicine as a healing beverage. Chocolate Chai Recipe
You Will Need:
2 tsp Firepot Chocolate Chai loose leaf
½ cup milk
½ cup water
Honey or brown sugar to taste
1. Boil 2 teaspoons of Firepot Chocolate Chai loose leaf tea with half of a cup of milk, half of a cup of water, and your choice of sweetener (honey and brown sugar are our favorites!).
2. Then simply strain and enjoy!
Low on time? For a quicker method, mix Firepot Masala Chai concentrate with chocolate milk of your choice and heat! Top with a dash of cayenne for a spicy chai.
